Basement - Kids Play Room
Before
After
Our goal to was give some sense of order to the kids’ play room.
We decided to color code the kids books and then to categorize the 1)puzzles 2)games 3)card decks 4)color pencils 5) color pens 6) art papers and other supplies like glue sticks, post-its, glue 7)stencils and cutouts 8)math games 9)rubber animals 10) larger stuffed animals 11)globes and other memorabilia 12) tables and chairs 13) trains, cars, and airplanes. We used some of the already existing containers and relabeled them.
We went through some of the toys for donation that the kids had grown out of and removed the extras to trash.
Will it stay like this for long? Probably not but there are easier ways to “put things back” and clearly demarcated areas for each category.
Organizing does not have to be perfect to work. It can help, but not completely resolve some creative areas. The point is not to limit creativity but to make it easier to find something if you so choose to be creative with it.
